REF: HOW MUCH SUGAR
Comments: Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the good work. Weight control is one of the essentials of Diabetic control. You can find a wealth of information online at the American DIabetes Association's web site: http://www.diabetes.org The ADA has published many cookbooks based on their exchange lists. The answer to your question lies in the exchange lists for daily food intake. Did you know that earlier versions of Weight Watcher's diets were derived from the ADA's exchange lists? A lot will depend on your level of exercise, if you take insulin, etc. You may wish to contact a clinical dietition for counseling. He or she can help you balance your medications, diet and exercise for truely healthy living. Another reliable Web resource is the National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus at http://www.medlineplus.gov

Comments: I have been depressed a lot lately. I have been in an abusive relationship for fifteen years and am currently getting out. I have no help from family or friends because they feel I should get out on my own which just heightens my stress level because of having to struggle so much. I have collagen and connective tissue disease and kidney problems. When I am under stress my disease flairs up and I am bed ridden for a day or two.I have had counseling and I know how to release stress levels. For instance: 1. I walk 2. I meditate 3. I pray 4. I take a long shower 5. I exercise 6. I pet my dog 7. I try to see the brighter side of things, and read uplifting material. Nothing is working. I know that my family thinks that they are helping me be a stronger person by making me do everything on my own, but it's only making things worse. When I can't get out of my relationship because I don't have the money to get me out they always say that I am making excuses. The truth is without a littl

Comments: Unfortunately, the only way to find a neurosurgeon who can perform spinal procedures you will need to contact your PHP consultant directly to find the names of the participating physicians. More than likely, you would be able to use any neurosurgeon but you will be responsible for a larger part of the cost.

Comments: My question is about the health insurance ... I have some servere back pain with many complications (like arthritis and many previous surgeries) and my doctor want me to see a neurosurgeon. I was told the closest doctor who accepts my health insurance would be in Ann Arbor at the U of M clinic. I have PHP - isn't there any other doctors in this Lansing area that takes PHP? I know this isn't really a "health" question - but right now this is what is a major concern for me.

Comments: Most antidepressant take some time to reach their optimum blood level, which is when the best effects of the drug are seen. Make sure not to miss a dose of medication, and Zoloft is best absorbed if taken with food. It sounds as if you need to discuss this with your physician and/or therapist. Not all medication work for all people, and there is a wide variety of choices available.

Comments: The information in this question is somewhat vague and confusing. BUT: It is highly important that she see a physician as soon as possible. At the very least she is having stress related headaches. At worst she could be having some spinal fluid leakage and should have her surgeon check her condition. Both are highly treatable but are serious conditions.

Comments: In repsose to Rebeccas statement on the survey: I have taken the survey and found that in fact it does address being either married or single. Yes, the first questions "askes" if you have a spouse but further into the survey it asks marital status thus taking into consideration if you are married or if you are single, plus it asks if you have children. I believe the survey is designed to understand the stress factor for either, married OR single, not just one, I too, being a single parent understand what you meant.

Comments: I am looking for a therapist who specializes with stepfamilies. I have a child from a previous marriage and a child with my current (and last) husband. Before marriage we talked about discipline and agreed on not being the hard lined strict parents which is how we were raised. But now, he's either the pushover or the hard liner no in-between for him. I have to step between him and our child at times because I'm distrubed by what I'm seeing, hearing, and feeling and so is my child from the first marriage. My husband is willing to visit with a therapist to help guide us in a better direction. Since we are creatures of habit we need a new instuctor than the past experiences to draw from. Thanks.

Comments: There seems to be nothing in the survey that would target problems specific to single mothers. (i.e. ex-spouses, raising children alone, etc.) There are so many women in this position, probably with more stress than any other category, and this survey does not address this other than to ask marital status. In recalling the first line of the questionnaire, I believe it lists "spouse". Why isn't the second line "ex-spouse"?? Being a single parent is the biggest cause of stress in my life. I believe without more specifics in this area, a survey on women's issues is seriously flawed.

Comments: THE ISSUE OF CHILD SUPPORT IS SO FRUSTRATING. HOW CAN YOU GET A PERSON TO PAY? FRIEND OF THE COURT IS A BIG JOKE. THEY DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP THE SINGLE PARENTS OUT THERE TRYING TO SUPPORT THEIR CHILDREN WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE OTHER PARENT. I THOUGHT FRIEND OF THE COURT WAS WORKING FOR THE CHILDREN. WRONG. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN. IF THEY DID THEY WOULD TAKE MORE STEPS TO ENSURE THAT THE CHILDREN WERE SUPPORTED BY BOTH PARENTS.

Comments: Here is an interesting quote: "Micronutrients: because tension headache is so often related to increased stress, replacement of micronutrients which are depleted in times of stress is essential; the most critical are vitamin C, E, beta-carotene, B-complex and minerals magnesium, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese and selenium. Magnesium (aspartate or glycinate, upt to 750 mg/day) is especially critical because of its antispasmodic action." In: Quick access professional guide to conditions, herbs & supplements by Robert A. The American Cancer Society's web site is at cancer.org If you input "risk factors breast cancer" in the search field, a list of citations will appear.
